S-F LLC Signs Long-Term Lease with SCRA
ANDERSON, SC - January 24, 2012 - SCRA, a global leader in applied research and commercialization, today announced a new tenant company in their Upstate innovation center. The Duke Energy Innovation Center, a partnership between Clemson University and SCRA, is located in Anderson, SC and opened in March of 2011.
The award-winning facility is home to the SCRA-managed Composites Consortium, a group comprised of 34 companies including: Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Goodrich and SCRA Technology Ventures’ SC Launch company MIT-RCF. Also housed in the facility is the US Navy's Center of Excellence for Composites Manufacturing Technology, managed and run by SCRA. The remainder of the space is leased and includes state-of-the art conference rooms, a common break room and secure rooms for sensitive work.
S-F LLC, a Charleston-based research and development company, recently
signed a long term lease with SCRA to rent space in the Anderson-area
innovation center and plans to hire 10 engineers in the next 5 years to
develop and patent new products in the medical, chemical, energy and
textile industries. S-F will focus on commercializing new products
patented or designed within the SCRA research space, which will then be
manufactured in the Upstate of South Carolina.
A spokesman for S-F said they expect the new space to be ready before
May and are pleased to be SCRA’s first tenant in the research building.
“We are pleased to welcome S-F LLC to the Duke Energy Center,” said SCRA
CEO Bill Mahoney. “Our Innovation Centers continue to be places where
companies grow and thrive and their innovations are developed and
commercialized. We look forward to S-F LLC’s continued success and
recognize them on their significant contributions to South Carolina’s
Knowledge Economy.”
