Rep. Brian White
COLUMBIA, SC - October 11, 2012 - The S.C. Economic Developers’ Association (SCEDA) named state Rep. Brian White (R-Anderson) Legislator of the Year.
White, who is chairman of the House Ways and Means
Committee, is one of two members of the General Assembly to be so
honored this year. He and Sen. Billy O’Dell, a Republican who represents
Abbeville, Anderson and Greenwood counties, will receive their awards
at the SCEDA Midyear Meeting in Greenville Oct. 11-12.
“One of
the big successes for SCEDA this legislative session was passage of a
bill that strengthens South Carolina’s ability to attract jobs and
capital investment from data centers,” said George Wolfe, SCEDA
president. “Chairman White was extremely supportive of that bill and he
also assisted with measures to make sure our state’s economic
development incentives are competitive in a changing economy.”
South
Carolina’s economic development community received strong support from
the General Assembly this year. Additional measures were passed that
promote improvements to Charleston Harbor, clarify the Pollution Control
Act and provide funds for worker training.
