Michael Sim First Nationwide Tour Championship at Daniel Island Alumni Millionaire

CHARLESTON, SC - August 24, 2010 – Michael Sim, 2009 Nationwide Tour year-end money leader and runner-up at the 2009 Nationwide Tour Championship at Daniel Island, has surpassed the $1 million earnings mark on the PGA TOUR with an -18 T3 $244,800 finish on Sunday, August 22nd at the Wyndham Championship, in Greensboro, NC. Currently ranked 67th on the PGA TOUR’s money list, Sim now leads the Class of 2009’s “The 25” with $1,098,463 in earnings, contributing to the class’s grand total that currently stands at $10,348,349. The Nationwide Tour Championship at Daniel Island is the Nationwide Tour’s season-ending event where the top 60 money winners compete for 25 PGA TOUR cards and a spot on the 2011 PGA Tour.

Sim, a 25-year-old Australian, almost notched a PGA TOUR victory at the Wyndham Championship, briefly tied for the lead, but eventually fell to third, two strokes behind winner Arjun Atwal. Sim has posted very solid results this year on the PGA TOUR including 10 of 17 cuts and three Top 10 finishes, including a T3 at Turning Stone and T2 at the Farmers Insurance Open.
On the 2009 Nationwide Tour, Sim won three events prior to competing in the Nationwide Tour Championship at Daniel Island where he finished as runner-up (Stonebrae Classic, BMW Charity Pro-Am, Christmas in October Classic), and finished the year with record single-season earnings of $644,142, as well as another $130,188 on the PGA TOUR.
