Gallman Personnel Services, Inc.
For more than two decades, leading South Carolina companies have turned to Gallman Personnel Services, Inc. to assist with their staffing needs. The company provides temporary, temp-to-hire, contract, and full time employees from six offices across South Carolina.
"We started the company with two goals in mind - to make it easier to hire great people, and to help our clients gain an advantage in their marketplace," said Charlie Gallman, the company's president and CEO.
While light industrial companies remain a primary focus for Gallman, health care and direct placement are growing sectors.
"I saw a statistic recently that within a few years, we're going to have a shortage of hundreds of thousands of nurses in this country. That's a frightening prospect for healthcare providers, unless they can partner with an organization like ours to identify and hire employees," Gallman said.
To serve this sector, they recently started a new division, Gallman Healthcare Solutions. GHS specializes in Allied Health, Nursing and medical administrative positions.
Gallman Consulting, the direct placement division, has been specializing in manufacturing, human resources, engineering and construction management placements for clients throughout the United States since 2001.
While Gallman places thousands of employees with other companies every day, 33 full-time employees work for the company itself. Some of those have been with the company almost from the beginning, while many others have more than ten years experience with GPS.
"Our industry is built on relationships and trust, and that really carries over to how Charlie works with his own employees," said Mary Jane Sorrell, who's been with Gallman for 19 years. "I'd call us a 'family first' company and employees here really feel like part of a family."
"The use of temporary staffing has changed over the years and has become an integral part of company planning. They utilize us when increasing core staff and also when needing additional employees during their busy seasons. That kind of strategic planning is great for us and our clients," Sorrell said.
As Gallman looks to the future, he anticipates continued growth for all divisions, Gallman Personnel Services, Inc., Gallman Consulting and Gallman Healthcare Solutions. But like every employer in South Carolina, he is increasingly concerned about the availability of skilled workers in a changing economy.
However, with Gallman's multiple resources for recruiting and their well-established reputation for quality, a shortage of skilled workers provides yet another reason for companies to turn to Gallman.
Their one-on-one interviews help them provide their clients with the right person for the job. "We've already screened, indentified and/or trained employees, taking that burden off our client companies," he said.
